This type of plastic tank is only made to be installed in a pickup box, so it means, the tank cannot be used on the ground or on a trailer.
- They are used to transport drinking water, waste water, maple sap, fertilizers, pesticides or any other liquid.
- These tanks are not DOT approved for the transport of hazardous materials.
- If you plan to use your tank on the ground or on a trailer one day, opt for a horizontal tank instead.
- Note that pickup tanks take up most of the truck bed space and they must be tied with straps.
With their « mushroom » shape, they can’t be used on the ground or tied on a trailer, because their sides must be supported by the fenders of the box truck.
- Rectangular plastic tanks are made of FDA-compliant polyethylene, so they are food-safe.
- They may also contain chemicals.
- Also, always make sure to check the relative density of the liquid to be contained so that it is compatible with that of the tank.
