Double-walled tanks are specially designed to store chemicals. In fact, all substances that are corrosive or dangerous for the environment, which in the event of a spill, could endanger the health and safety of workers or harm the environment. All double-walled tanks are made with both an inner tank and an external secondary tank with a recovery capacity of 120% of the inner tank. This assembly is very safe in the event of a leak. The tanks are used for the containment of liquids with a specific density of up to 1.9. A range of up to 2.2 is also available on request.
Double wall tanks have no accessories included:
The tanks have no drain.
The idea is not to pierce the outer wall, since it serves as a retention basin. The liquid is normally extracted from the top of the tank using a pump. However, upon request, a drain designed for a double-walled wall can be installed by the manufacturer.
The tanks have no vent.
It is therefore mandatory to add one, otherwise, you have to work with the lid still open. Usually, a vent connection is installed on the roof, which allows connection to it if it is necessary to collect the harmful fumes. A gooseneck vent can also be installed on request.
The tanks have no level graduation.
Since the liquid is contained in the inner tank, there is no contact between the liquid and the outer wall, it is impossible to see the level. An external level gauge can be installed on request, but this also requires the use of fittings suitable for double walls, which means drilling in two places in the external retention basin, which is less recommended. Normally, equipment that measures and controls the level of the liquid is used with this type of tank.
The vertical double-walled tanks are very practical. They take up less space than using a standard rectangular retention basin, in which a single-walled tank would be placed. At all times, the tanks must be placed on a flat surface that is as smooth as possible to avoid pressure points that could damage the base.
They have a more specific use: safe storage of chemicals and corrosive liquids requiring a secondary containment basin.
